The Performance of Catz Quintet in Singapore

broken image

I attended the Catz Quintet concert on 26 September at 8pm at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Concert Hall in NUS. The concert was a showcase from the Centre of Fine Arts under "Ones to Watch", where potential young musicians and talents are showcased. The players hail from St Catherine's College, University of Oxford.

The players hail from the University of Oxford. The five young talents showed flair and poise in their performance. They showed much confidence in their playing and held their professionalism to the end. Their precision was timeless and one can tell the hours they spent rehearsing together as their cohesiveness was splendid especially the 20th century pieces that they performed where the rhythms and articulations require precision and they executed them well.

The performance was thoroughly enjoyable and the quintet is definitely the ones to watch.

The performers are:

Mark Simpson on Clarinet

Louise Maltby on Flute

Hilary Cornwell on Oboe

Jeffry Douglass on French horn and Harry Thorrington on Bassoon and

Jonathon Swinard ( Repetiteur Scholar at St Catherine's College) on Piano

Catch them if you can when they come to your town !
